A man who was fired by IBM for visiting an adult chat room at work is suing the company for million, claiming he is an Internet addict who deserves treatment and sympathy rather than dismissal.James Pacenza, 58, of Montgomery, says he visits chat rooms to treat traumatic stress incurred in 1969 when he saw his best friend killed during an Army patrol in Vietnam.Not that I don’t feel bad about someone losing their friend, but using it as an excuse?In the article, it mentions that he had a previous warning, but continued visiting adult chat rooms anyway.

I won't say that the legal system, and plaintiff's lawyers in particular, doesn't share some blame but I think that it's our society on the whole that breeds and tolerates "syndromes" and all these made up "problems".
